I got a Feelin'

Hey guys! I'm so excited because my lovely cousin just found both of the songs I've been looking for WITH video!

The first is I gotta Feeling, which is sung by The Black Eyed Peas usually, but was remade to I gotta feeling This year's gonna be a good year This year's gonna be a repeat year!

I tried to get the video to play directly on my blog, but since I can't, here's the link to the video.

There's also a Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus remade to "Phillies going all the way!" Here's the link to that video as well.

I love that the people that make these songs put clips from the games in the songs.
Love it! I'm so excited for tomorrow. I'm so lucky to be a Delaware valley girl, so I can go to the city tomorrow and be there when the Phills win their way into the World Series... I hope. My fingers are crossed.

Jimmy Rollins made it quite clear last night that no matter what, the game's not over until there are 27 outs. We only had 26, and we weren't done. One more game and it's back to the World Series!!

If you're looking for a little more Philly love, here's a blog I found. Funny, easy to read, and definitely loves the Phillies, so he's okay in my book! He keeps a detailed description of each game, videos, and quotes from players and opposing teams. He also adds posts from newspapers and blogs from other cities and areas for different points of view. Clearly for entertainment purposes.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for tomorrow!

The Phanatic

I love the Phanatic. He dances, plays with fans, antagonizes the opposition, and has great fashion sense.

Accoring to wikipedia, The Phanatic was created in 1977 during the NLCS, which was played at
the Vet when a young exec of the marketing and promotions department thought the team needed a mascot to entertain fans during the game. He was named after the fanatical fans who drove the Dodger's pitcher to be expelled from the game.
Another reason he was created was to bring more families to The Vet, as some of the more inebriated fans were involved in fights during the games. The Phanatic was originally portrayed by Dave Raymond, who in 2005, founded the Mascot Hall of Fame, and the Phanatic was inducted as a charter member.

The Phanatic replaced Phil and Phyils who were never brought to life, but rather were put on shirts, hats, and other Phillies gear.
The Phanatic rides around on an ATV, being the first professional mascot to do so, on the artificial turf of The Vet, and now, with regular tires, on the grass at Citizens Bank Park. The Phanatic is most sued mascot in sports. Most notably, the Phillies had to pay a judgment of $2.5 million to a man when the Phanatic bear hugged him, from which the man sustained serious back injuries. If the Phanatic wanted to hug me, I'd still welcome him with open arms!

For more information on the team and the Phanatic, click here, and visit the Phillies website.

Nancy...

So, I have to share this with you Phillies fans:

My cousin, Caitlin, my dad and his girlfriend, Nancy, and I are watching the Phillies game. Right as Victorino was coming to bat, Caitlin said she had to go to the bathroom. I said, "It's 8-0, just go." She went into the bathroom, which is about 20 feet from the livingroom, so I told Nancy that in 3-2-1 we should start cheering that he did something awesome. We did, and it was funny, but then right after we stopped and Caitlin started walking out, Victorino hit a homerun, making the score 11-0!!

Amazing.

Charlie exchanged Lee for Durbin, and I'm hoping for a shut out. One more out!!
...

2 outs,
3 balls, 2 strikes, aaaaaaaaaaaaand Belisario hits and Ruiz catches it over the dug out!

11-0!
Shut out!!

Now I'm listening to Harry singing HIGH HOPES over the loud speakers with the whole of Citizens Bank Park singing along with him. Brings a tear to my eye. I miss Harry. He'd be so proud of this club, and he's watching over the Phillies, announcing the game in heaven!

2 more games, guys!

What I love even more than going to the World Series is reading about how mad the Mets are that their two biggest rivals, the Phillies and Yankees are going to the World Series: Read more here to read about why the Mets are mad. The end gives them a bit of a reprieve though, talking about how there is a buzz around the league that the team will sign new players during the off season to make them a force to be reckoned with in 2010.

Love this blog!

Check it out. It's a collaboration of a few writers, but they are passionate and informed about the team. They give you recaps of games, along with really interesting questions and positions about the team. From Will Meyers be a good addition to the World Series roster? To How did you celebrate the win last night?

The site also gives Phillies parties at bars like McFaddens and The Shack. Pictures, videos, merchandise, fantasy baseball stats and points, and news. Keep up the good work guys!

I think I can breathe now...

Last night was SO intense!

First inning home run for Victorino gave the Phills yet another early lead, which only made me wonder when the Rockies would strike...

Second inning highlight was an amazing, smart move by J. Roll at second. Happ threw him the ball after bobbling it for a second. Rollins catches the mall and his glove is on the base where the runner slides but the glove is between him and the base. Rollins kept his glove with the ball inside in the same position so the ump could see the base runner was in fact, out. Very smart move, J. Roll.
In the top of the 6th inning, Werth hit another home run, to make the score 2-0 pretty late in the game.

But, at the next Rockies at bat, Tulowitzki hits and sends Hilton home, but not without Jimmy throwing the ball to the plate to try for the out at home. It was a great throw, but just not in time to keep the Rockies from scoring.
The next highlight play, I can't even describe, check out the video. Jimmy is charged with an error as the announcer was about to say as the video gets cut off at the end. Fowler does indeed treat the gorgeous Chase Utley like a hurdle and lands safely at second.

Cliff Lee was pulled from the game at this point, and Madson comes in as reliever.
The bottom of the 8th, score tied at 2, and this is when the Rockies really began to come alive. Torrealba hits a ball to the wall and scores 2, and puts the Rockies ahead 4-2 with not much time for the Phillies to do damage control.

Top of the ninth inning, Phills offense comes to the plate.

2 outs are quickly rung up, and Howard is at bat with Utley and Victorino on base. Now, I love Ryan Howard as much as the next Phillies fan. He came second to Prince Fielder in this year's home run derby, he's hit 45 home runs this season, and is a machine when he gets in the groove; however, most of the time he either hits a home run, or is struck out. I was hoping for a home run, but the Rockie's Coor's field is much deeper than Citizen's Bank Park field, so I was concerned. My concern quickly turned to complete shock when he hit the ball to the wall, and Victorino and Utley were able to score in quick succession, almost getting to the plate at the same time. (Victorino had to turn back because he missed 3rd base.) 4-4. The last thing I needed was this game to go into extra innings. My heart couldn't take it.

Howard was on base with Werth at bat. He hits it for a basehit, and Howard comes in to score.

Okay, so now we're up by one. This is about where I started holding my breath, and sat down in front of my TV on the floor.

Madson gives up a a pair of basehits, and they're 2 away. Charlie (the classy guy that he is) brought Brad Lidge on the field who hasn't had the best year, but was still a huge part of the win last year from what I remember... hehe (I love this video because it shows the reaction from many of the star players and the reaction of the fans at the same time).

Lidge saved the day and we pulled out another win!
Now, we have to wait until Thursday to watch the Phills take on the Los Angelas Dodgers. We did it once, we can do it again!

Until then, I'm going to try to cover Harry Kalas, some more videos of awesome plays and memorable moments, and maybe the Phanatic.

GO PHILLS!!

Game 3: The Nail Biter

Game three, even series at 1, in Colorado, 10 PM in 20 degree weather.

The Rockies pitcher, Hammel, was striking guys out left and right until Chase "the man" Utley came up in the first and hit an over 400-foot homerun to gain the early lead. After that, the Phillies had a hard time getting something going while the Rockies scored 3 in quick succession. It wasn't until the 4th that the Phillies offence came alive. Victorino was walked, and later scored off Howard. Bases loaded with Jayson Werth, Ryan Howard, and Chase Utley. Ibanez was then walked to send Chase home to tie the score at 3. Then, Pedro Feliz came up and hit a slow roller up the middle for a double play at home and first. Ruiz was up next to hit an RBI to make the score 4-3 with Werth running in to put the Phills on top.

Hammel was then pulled out of the game; when he loses it, he really loses it. Amazing in the first few innings and then let the Phillies come back. Belisle came in, and ended the Phillies hitting streak. At the bottom of the 4th, Blanton came in, and Gonzalez hit a solo shot to tie the score up again, but other than that there was no more damage done.

At the top of the 5th, Belisle walks two and then Ruiz was up to hit RBI number 2 with Ibanez running in to make the score 5-4. After this, neither team can come up with a run.

It was about this time that I fell asleep sitting up in my bed, with a bowl of pretzels next to me. I woke up this morning with nothing but my notes and a foggy memory to help me remember that the game was so close! I didn't know how I wanted to find out the score. Should I just turn on SportsCenter and wait? Should I look it up online?
I finally decided to just suck it up, and check here. The direct link sends you to the schedule, but it's part of the larger Phillies website where you can get information, purchase merchandise, buy tickets, and watch videos.

ONE MORE GAME! Tonight the Phillies WILL win the series and rub it in the faces of those freezing cold Rockies fans. I felt bad for them last night. All bundled up through 9 innings of 20 degree weather, just to watch their team lose.
Yeah. I don't feel that bad.
Let's do it again Phills!!

Game 2

I know this is late coming, but I didn't get to watch much of game three because I had to go to school. I was getting updates via text, and was not happy with what I was reading. Hamels left after 5 innings and was soon in the delivery room with his wife (Heidi Strobel of Survivor: The Amazon fame). Heidi did not give birth to their first child, Caleb Michel, until October 9th around 9 A.M. Jayson Werth started a rally with a solo shot for 1 to make it 5-4 late in the game, but they just couldn't come up with the win. It is now an even series at 1-1.

Last night, game three was delayed thanks to the fabulous baseball weather they have in Colorado.

20 degree weather, and heavy snow caused the postponement, and the schedule is as follows:

Tonight at 10:07, Monday is TBA, and Tuesday... I don't want to think about Tuesday.

I know this has nothing to do with the Phills, but the Eagles are also playing today and keeping me entertained while I wait for baseball. Donovan back on the field and looking really good as is Mr. Desean Jackson with 2 touchdowns already this afternoon in the end of the first half. Gotta love Philadelphia sports!

Let's do it for Harry and Jim!
I will definitely be writing a post about Harry the K soon <3
Until then, here's the ABC news coverage of his memorial that took place on Citizen's Bank Field, along with some pictures and video. If you scroll down, you can watch each section of the memorial of the people you're most interested in from family friends and the president of baseball.
RIP HK
